JAMMU, Feb 13: Dr Agnishekhar an eminent Hindi poet, writer, thinker and Intellectual was conferred the prestigious ‘Naresh Mehta Smriti Vangmay Samman’ for his significant contribution to contemporary Hindi literature by Madhya Pradesh (MP) Rashtra Bhasha Prachar Samiti at Hindi Bhawan, Bhopal.
The Samman carries cash award of Rs 51,000 with Shawl, memento and Shrifal.
The award giving ceremony was held on the occasion of Sharad Vyakhyanmala by MP Rashtra Bhasha Prachar Samiti, MP at Bhopal.
The Jury appointed by Madhya Pradesh Rashtra Bhasha Samiti, Bhopal has highly acclaimed Dr Agnishekhar for his uncompromising and empathetic expression of the pangs of exile and genocide besides, other pertinent issues facing the humanity in his eight widely acclaimed collections of poetry and several other books.
His widely acclaimed poetry has enormously contributed to the fund of Exile Consciousness in contemporary Indian literature that has been recognized as a new literary development post 1990.
Agnishekhar is the first Hindi Poet from Jammu & Kashmir UT to win the ‘Naresh Mehta Smriti Vangmay Samman’.
