KATRA, Feb 14: Continuing with the initiatives for the creation, upgradation and expansion of civic amenities in Katra and its surrounding areas, Anshul Garg, CEO, SMVDSB today inaugurated development works in Katra at an expenditure of over Rs 94.46 lakh in the presence of Chairman, Municipal Committee, Katra; Sub Divisional Magistrate, Katra; ward members and prominent citizens of the town.
The works include renovation and upgradation of the road already constructed by the Shrine Board alongwith drain from Hansali to Panthal Road via Bhumika Temple including maintenance of the road for a period of five years. Completion of the entire road stretch within a period of three months will help the locals in decongesting traffic of the main road towards Darshani Deodi.
Another work being taken up shortly on the demand of residents is the renovation and upgradation of Govt Girls High School at Banganga Road, Katra. This project costing Rs 98.93 lakh includes dismantling and reconstruction of Govt Girls High School Block (G+1). The timeline of the work shall be nine months. These upgradation and expansion of civic amenities shall incur Rs 193.39 lakh.
It is pertinent to recall that the Shrine Board has been undertaking infrastructural creation and upgradation of works in Katra and its surrounding areas from time to time as part of its social support initiatives for overall socio-economic development of the region. In this regard, the Board earlier completed many civic amenities related works in Katra town which included providing and fixing of ornamental railing and installation of dual lamp LED street lights on the Central Verge of the road leading to Railway Station, Katra; providing and fixing of Children Playground equipment at Shalimar Park, Katra and construction of road and drain in Ward number 2 in Katra.
The Shrine Board from time to time has also provided financial support under social support initiatives to the Municipal Committee, Katra for undertaking various development works and improving sanitation and other civic amenities. In addition, it has provided various infrastructural material for the facilitation of the pilgrims and the local people at large to the Municipal Committee viz tractor with trolly, load carrier, water coolers, dust bins, garden benches, wheelbarrows, CGI sheets and energy efficient street lights etc. Besides, saplings of indigenous and ornamental trees and tree guards were also provided to the Katra Municipality.
