Cop injured during fire in hotel

RAJOURI, Feb 17: A Police personal was injured after a hotel in Gujjar Mandi Chowk area of Rajouri caught fire last mid night.
Official sources said that at around 1.30 am last night a hotel caught fire under suspicious circumstances and a policeman staying in a hotel room was seriously injured.
The police received information that a fire broke out in hotel Garib Nawaz located in Gujar Mandi. As soon as the information was received, the police immediately reached the spot and at the same time the army personnel from the ALG ground of the army in front of the hotel also reached the spot and with the help of the police started the work of extinguishing the fire.
Within a short while, fire tenders led Maqbool Hussain, STO reached the spot and started dousing the fire. While the fire in the hotel was controlled, a policeman who stayed in the hotel room for the night was seriously injured.
The police immediately took him to GMC Rajouri?. Some furniture kept in two rooms of the hotel was damaged, but the fire was controlled in time and the fire was prevented from spreading to the nearby shops.
Dr Mehmood Ahmed, Medical Superintendent of GMC Rajouri told that the police man Mohammed Shabbir, son of Abdul Aziz, resident of Ujhan, Darhal, had suffered about 75% burns. He was later referred to GMC Jammu in view of his deteriorating condition after first aid. The police has registered a case in this connection.
