JAMMU, Feb 19: Alka Musical Group, Channi Himmat organised a Dogri- Punjabi Folk Musical programme on at KL Sehgal Hall, Abhinav Theatre, Jammu here today.
The programme included the live performance by Alka Anil Mahajan. She presented the famous Dogri and Punjabi folk songs and mesmerised the audience with her impressive voice. Suman Gupta , renowned painter was the chief guest during the function.
The eminent personalities who graced the occasion included – Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, TR Sharm, former Special Secretary Culture, Ashok Singh president JK Delphic Council, Seema Sehgal renowned singer, Neena Gupta (Corporator), Trishla Gupta (Bhartiya Vikas Parishad), BR Rao ( Advocate), NN Thusu and many others.
Bishan Dass, a renowned Radio -TV folk singer was the music director of the program. The musicians who made the programme a great sucess were Bishan Dass (Harmonium), Rakesh Jasotra (Flute), Darbari Lal (Tabla) and Chandan Kumar( synth).
Dr Arvinder Singh Amn in his address congratulated Alka Anil Mahajan , the singer for organising such a wonderful musical programme and to promote the folk culture, language and folk music. Such kind of programme are the need of the hour to preserve, propagate and promote the folk music, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest appreciated the efforts of Alka Mahajan and her team for organising a wonderful musical evening. She also appreciated the artist for bringing the two dynamic cultures (Dogri & Punjabi ) together on the stage by means of Folk songs. The vote of thanks was presented by Anil Mahajan (organiser). The programme was ably conducted by Kusum Tikkoo.
