Traders Federation threatens to halt supply of essential commodities

JAMMU, Nov 8: Traders Federation Ware House/ Nehru Market today threatened to halt the supply of essential commodities to the far flung areas of the State including Kashmir, Kishtwar, Poonch and Leh if no action was taken by the Government and the law enforcing agencies against self styled transporters.
A meeting of the federation was held under the chairmanship of its president Rattan Lal Mahajan, during which various issues including transporting of goods sold by them from one place to another was discussed.
The members of the federation said that the group consisting of some antisocial elements and self styled transporters in the name of union are creating hurdles in the smooth running of the business. They said that the goons hired by this group are harassing, threatening and extorting money from the truck loaded by the members of this federation vis-à-vis its members.
They condemned the activities of these unscrupulous persons, whose main motive is to extort money by harassing the traders and truckers.
Among others present were senior vice president Sham Lal Gupta, junior vice president Neeraj Gupta, general secretary Ram Langer, secretary Jitinder Gupta and cashier Ashok Gupta.
