7-day international FDP begins at Commerce College

JAMMU, Feb 21: A seven day international online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) organized by Research & Development Cell of Government SPMR College of Commerce in collaboration with Cape Comorin Trust from Tamil Nadu on the topic “Research Methods, Tools and Techniques for Multidisciplinary Research Design” began today.
The FDP commenced with the inaugural address by Prof Deepshikha Sharma, Organizing Secretary of the programme. In her address, Prof Deepshikha deliberated upon the collaborative FDP and its importance in the contemporary times. She enlisted various issues which the FDP would touch upon.
Elaborating on the vision of the FDP, she said that this FDP will include hands on sessions where the participants will be able to understand the concepts and applications of various research tools for data analysis through SPSS.
Dr Pooja, Convener Research & Development Cell presented the formal welcome note and enumerated the eminent panelists who will be sharing their experienced insights which shall benefit the FDP participants. On behalf of Research & Development Cell, she offered her deepest thanks to Director, Higher Education Dept, J&K Dr Yasmeen Ashai, Chief Patron, in absentia.
Dr Surinder Kumar, Principal Govt SPMR College of Commerce, in his address, said, “try new methods, dare to take challenges, keep your targets high and achieve them”. He further said that modern society demands high quality teaching and learning from teachers as such they have to possess a great deal of knowledge and skills with regard to both teaching and assessment practices in order to meet those demands and standards of quality education.
The first technical session of the FDP was initiated by Von Eric Tandoc, an International Motivational popular speaker from Alberta, Canada. Key points discussed in the session were importance of giving and receiving feedback in research. Second session of FDP was conducted by Dr B Spoorthi from NIT Warangal. She talked on the formulation of Hypothesis and topic selection for research.
The FDP was attended by 120 participants from India and abroad. The proceedings of the program were convened by Prof Harpreet Kour and Dr Fayza.
