Co-operate with police against drug menace: DIG Gupta to youth

DODA, Feb 23: During visit to Sub-Division Bhaderwah, Dr. Sunil Gupta, DIG DKR Range met prominent persons and youth of Bhaderwah and talked about drug abuse.
Dr. Gupta said: “No matter how much police does to curb the menace of drug abuse, it is the society especially youth who have to play a pivotal role in this regard and has to come forward to curb the menace completely.”
The DIG requested the community members to be a part of the campaign by coming forward with any information in their neighbourhood regarding drugs.
“Involvement of volunteer organisations, families, communities and groups of ‘high risk’ youths will be regarded and appreciated,” he maintained adding: “Police is doing everything to eradicate the menace of drugs.”
Dr. Gupta also said that a day before SSP Doda has sealed four shops involved in storing and selling the banned drugs.
He directed the SSP to plan and organise awareness programmes with the help of District Administration in coordination with NGOs, educational institutions and other stake holders against drug abuse.
Abdul Qayoom, SSP Doda and Waseem, SDPO Bhaderwah were also present in the meeting.
