LEH, Feb 24: Several high-ranking officials visited Lieutenant Governor, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), here at Raj Niwas on Friday.
As per a statement, GOC 14 Corps, Lt General Anindya Sengupta, briefed the Lt Governor on the top preparedness of the Indian Army to defend the border areas of Ladakh.
It said that the Air Officer Commanding (AOC) of 21 Wing Leh, Air Commodore Pankaj Kumar Srivastava, discussed the need to evacuate stranded Ladakhi citizens from Chandigarh, Jammu, and Delhi. The Lt Governor requested the IAF to airlift the people of Ladakh as soon as possible, and the AOC assured him that the necessary action would be taken.
Meanwhile, Chief Engineer of Project Himank, Brigadier Gaurav Singh Karki, gave a detailed presentation on the infrastructure development works carried out by his team in North-East and South-East Ladakh.
He requested for the early issuance of administrative approval (AA) for the remaining packages for the construction of the Khalsar-Agham-Shayok Road. The Lt Governor stressed the need for the road to be completed within the stipulated time and for the quality of the work to be checked.
