Incidents, congestion free highway top priority: DIG Traffic

JAMMU, Feb 25: The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Traffic Jammu, Shridhar Patil, accompanied by SSP Traffic, Mohita Sharma, today visited the National Highway and assessed the condition of the highway, black spots, and bottlenecks.
As per a statement, the officers were briefed on the difficulties faced by the officials of the Traffic Police and about the strategies to improve the condition of the National Highway.
It said that Patil himself assessed the ground situation by visiting landslide and shooting stones prone areas of the highway including Dalwas, Mehar, Panthyal and Sherbibi, where he briefed the deployed manpower to be firm and polite while performing their job.
He also held an interactive session with Project Director National Highway and held a discussion related to improvement of the highway.
Later, the DIG Traffic, Shridhar Patil interacted with the DySsP posted at the highway and stressed upon them the importance of making the highway incident and congestion-free by enforcing regulations, challaning vehicles obstructing the free flow of traffic, and taking action against overloading, over-speeding, and drunken driving.
The officer also emphasized the use of technology, e-challans, and official channels for sharing information.
Rewards were also sanctioned for the jawans performing duties in difficult stretches to boost their morale.
