JAMMU, Feb 25: Senior Advocate Vikram Sharma has been elected as new president of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association, Jammu and Advocate Amit Gupta as new vice president.
As per the results of the election announced after midnight, Parvesh Singh Salaria has been elected as new general secretary, Chetan Misri has been elected as new joint secretary and Utkarsh Pathania as cashier of Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association.
Against a total of 2193 votes, 1889 were polled in the election.
According to Senior Advocate MK Bhardwaj, former president of the Bar Association, who acted as Returning Officer, Advocate Senior Vikram Sharma secured 792 votes to win the presidential chair.
The other contenders for the post namely Advocate Nirmal Kotwal secured 517 votes, Advocate Sachin Gupta secured 415 votes and Senior Advocate Surinder Kour secured 165 votes respectively.
Advocate Amit Gupta secured 798 votes for the post of the vice president. The other contenders for the post namely, Adv Monish Chopra secured 725 votes and Advocate Jasvinder Singh (Jassi) secured 362 votes respectively.
Advocate Parvesh Singh Salaria was elected as general secretary by securing 1200 votes. His rival Adv Ajay Bakshi secured 686 votes.
Advocate Chetan Misri emerged as winner for the post of joint secretary by securing 1310 votes whereas Adv Shiv Dev Thakur secured 570 votes.
Advocate Utkarsh Pathania who has been elected as cashier of the Bar Association, secured 561 votes against his rivals namely Adv Suhail Bharti who secured 465 votes, Adv Gourav Sharma secured 406 votes and Adv Vikram Singh Sohil 419 secured votes.
