JAMMU, Mar 26: Some unidentified miscreants allegedly murdered a youth at Sua No. 1 in Dumi area under the jurisdiction of Kanachak police station last night. Body of the youth was recovered from the canal this morning.
The victim has been identified as Banarsi Lal, 28, son of Kaka Ram R/o Dumi.
Police said body of the youth was recovered from the canal this morning and sent to Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu for post-mortem.
Report of the post-mortem was awaited, police said.
Family members and local people of the area protested against the murder. Police said they have registered a murder case at Kanachak police station for further investigations but no arrests have been made so far.
The youth was working with a trading company at Narwal.
All angles in the case were being looked into, police said. SDPO Domana Sandeep Mehta was supervising investigations in the case.
