JAMMU, Feb 27: Former Minister, Sat Sharma (CA) along with councilor, Nidhi Mangotra started developmental works at Pacca Talab area of Ward 17.
Sat Sharma was accompanied by former councilor Balwan Singh and several others including local residents and political activists of the area. The works will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 35 lakh and a modernized community hall will be constructed in the area.
The hall was earlier being built with a cost of Rs 50 lakh which was partially completed but more works including building of Nullah adjoining the hall with RCC slabs with retaining wall and other pending works needed immediate attention including the renovation of hall so an additional amount of Rs 35 lakh was sanctioned to take up the pending works.
Speaking on the occasion, Sat Sharma said “Such places hold a great significance in our society and it is our prime duty to develop such places’’. He said that building of such places will cater to the needs of the locals and people from adjoining wards as well. He also said functions like marriages and other programmes can also be done here when it will be completed and that too at nominal prices.
He stated that during his tenure as MLA, many community halls were built across the Jammu West constituency which catered to the needs of thousands of inhabitants. He also stated that Jammu West has progressed a lot towards development and in the last six years.
Nidhi Mangotra said that this was the much awaited work which has been taken up today and said that the pending works of the Ward will be taken up very soon and wherever required help of former MLA will also be taken to solve remaining problems in the Ward.
Davinder Kumar, Smarty, Rahul, Nitish, Omkar and several others were also present.
