Srinagar, Mar 3: The Meteorological department today forecast isolated light rain and snow in next 24 hours in Kashmir with authorities issuing avalanche warning for the hills.
Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority (JKDMA) today issued an avalanche warning for the hills of Kashmir.
The DMA issued a ‘medium’ danger level avalanche above 2500 metres in Bandipora, Ganderbal and Kupwara districts.
“People living in these areas have been advised to take precautions and avoid venturing in the avalanche prone areas till further orders,” an official said.
Srinagar recorded a low of 6.6°C against 7.0°C the previous night and it was above normal by 4.3°C for the city.
Qazigund recorded a low of 5.6°C against 5.5°C the previous night and it was 4.7°C above normal for the town.
Pahalgam recorded a low of 1.7°C against 2.4°C the previous night and it was 4.0°C above normal for the tourist resort.
Kokernag recorded a low of 4.8°C against 5.0°C the previous night and it was 3.9°C above normal for the place.
Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 0.6°C, the same as the previous night and it was 3.9°C above normal for the skiing resort.
In Kupwara town, the mercury settled at 4.2°C against 5.1°C the previous night and it was 5.2°C above normal for the town.
Leh and Kargil recorded a low of minus 4.8°C and minus 2.4°C respectively.
