Justin Lin to direct next ‘Bourne’ film

LOS ANGELES, Nov 12: “Fast & Furious 6” director Justin Lin will direct the next ‘Bourne’ movie starring Jeremy Renner.
The filmmaker, who has previously directed the last four “Fast & Furious” films, has been tapped by movie studio Universal to take over the stalwart super spy franchise, which will see Renner reprise his role as Aaron Cross.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lin will join the project with returning producers Frank Marshall, Jeffrey Weiner and Ben Smith.
Lin helped turn “Fast & Furious” into a blockbuster franchise by rebooting it in 2009 with “Fast & Furious”. He followed up with 2011’s “Fast Five” and this year’s “Fast & Furious 6”, which grossed nearly USD 800 million worldwide.
The director decided to leave the franchise ahead of “Fast & Furious 7” after Universal fast-tracked the project to a 2014 release date, just one year after the release of the sixth film.
‘The Conjuring’ helmer James Wan is set to direct the new movie. (PTI)
