JAMMU, Mar 8: Holi, the festival of colours, was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the men and women of Border Security Force (BSF) near the International Border in Suchetgarh area of RS Pura sector in Jammu.
Both men and women of BSF were seen dancing on Bollywood Holi special songs and smearing colours on each other’s face. Local people also joined BSF personnel and celebrated Holi with them. Soldiers offered sweets to each other and to locals.
The Jawans extended Holi wishes to their colleagues as well as local people. “Our BSF family is very big and every year, we celebrate Holi with full joy. Locals visit the BSF camp every festival and celebrate the festival of colours with us and it is the love of the local people that we don’t feel too far away from our homes when we are around them,” a BSF personnel said.
“They (locals) are like our family members. While celebrating festivals with them, we don’t miss our own family,” another BSF soldier said and extended Holi wishes to people of Jammu & Kashmir. He said that like Holi, they celebrate all other festivals together despite belonging to different religions, states and cultures.
“We celebrate the festivals without a worry as we know our borders are secure,” a local youth, who was celebrating Holi with BSF personnel said. He said BSF is guarding our borders and it is because of them we sleep peacefully and fearlessly in our homes near the border with Pakistan.
