Issues of ex-servicemen discussed at Kishtwar rally

KISHTWAR, Nov 12: Many issues of the ex-servicemen, their families and `Veer Naris’ were taken up during a ex-servicemen rally held at the district headquarters here today.
This grand rally, in which over one thousand ex-servicemen and `Veer Naris’ participated, was organised  at ALG complex Kishtwar, under the aegis of Rashtriya Rifles of  the Army.
General Officer Commanding of Delta Force, felicitated 22 ‘Veer Naris’ with a cheque worth Rs 1 lakh each. He also presented a modified sector to a battle casualty soldier.
The GOC emphasized on Army’s resolve to look after veterans and their families and resolve their problems. He also highlighted various schemes for ex-servicemen, their families and `Veer Naris’,  initiated by Indian Army and the Central and State Governments.
Apart from resolving pension related and resettlement issues, a medical camp was also organized during the rally. Specialist doctors provided their services, especially for eyes and dental care. During rally,  the ex-servicemen were provided resettlement and re-employment avenues. The event was attended by many Govt and Defence Welfare Departments. They included Army Welfare Educational Society, Army Welfare Placement Organisation, District Pension Disbursement Organisation, Sainik Welfare Organisation etc.  Several Government Departments and Banks (SBI/ JKB) had set up stalls for providing awareness to the retired Defence personnel and their families.
An impressive cultural programme was also presented. Brass band and pipe band show were the other attractions besides Lezim dance of Maharashtra and martial arts performance by the Madras Regiment.
