JAMMU, Nov 12: A two-day NAAC sponsored national seminar on theme “Enhancing Quality in Higher Education: A Paradigm shift towards global consciousness”, began today at Government MAM College.
Feroz Ahmed Khan, Minister of State for IT and School Education, was the chief guest in the inaugural ceremony while Prof Z A Chat, Principal, Govt Degree College, Anantnag was the key note speaker.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the traditional lamp by the chief guest who stressed that quality education was the need of the hour and it was imperative to strengthen the quality parameter in the Education system to ensure a better future for the young learners of the State.
Prof Z A Chat, while delivering the key note address, emphasized on the need for generating employability in Higher Education Sector. He reiterated that the system has to undergo a sea-change to keep in sync with the contemporary Global trends and to survive in this indigenous system so that our institutions are at par with the global ones.
Dr Ramesh Chander, Principal of the College stressed the need for organizing such Seminars in order to strengthen and identify the benchmarks in Higher Education.
Dr Twinkle Suri, the organizing secretary of the seminar, deliberated on the themes of the seminar and highlighted the aim and objectives of organizing the same.
Prof Asha Gupta, Principal, GDC Akhnoor, Prof Zaheer Abbas, Principal, GDC, Doda, Ranjeet Kalra, Asstt Director Academic Staff College, Prof Monica Sharma, Jallandar, Prof Sunil Khosla, Principal, B B College Punjab University and Prof Ashu Pasricha from Punjab University, Chandigarh were also present on the occasion.
