SIT constituted to probe Janipur murder case

JAMMU, Mar 11: Jammu and Kashmir Police have constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the murder of a woman doctor by her boyfriend in Janipur area of the District on Tuesday.
The DySP Bakshi Nagar, Vikram Singh-led SIT assisted by SHO Janipur, Inspector Vijay Kumar and an Inspector rank police officer will probe into the killing of Dr Sumedha of Tallab Tillo Jammu by Dr Johar Mehmood of Bhaderwah with a kitchen knife at latter’s Janipur-based residence on Tuesday, and submit a report to the senior police officers accordingly.
Pertinently, Dr Johar Mehmood, who is admitted in the ICU of Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu, also tried to kill himself with the same kitchen knife after killing his girlfriend but his condition is stated to be stable now.
The accused was earlier booked in case FIR 27/2023 under section 302 of the IPC registered at Janipur Police Station for killing his girlfriend, who was studying in New Delhi.
