POONCH, Mar 11: Power Development Department has upgraded the electricity system at Receiving Station of Saiklu as well as Loran to enhance the load capacity. With this the residents of these areas will not suffer more due to electricity problem.
Official sources said that the system has been upgraded after 1994, as there were two transformers installed at Saiklu Receiving Station with 3.15 and 2.5 MVA which was feeding Sathra block, MES, BSF, Mandi and Jallian feeder but the load was exceeding much and now they have installed one more 3.15 MVA transformer against 2.5 capacity with which problem of power supply in summers as well as in winters will be improved a lot.
They said that 3.15 MVA transformer is also being installed at Loran. Now there will be two transformers of same capacity and there would be no problem of power supply to the people of those areas, being fed from Loran Power Receiving Station.
Junior Engineer at Saiklu Station, Zaheer Ahmed said that the power system has been improved and we are now able to provide electricity 24 hours except the curtailment from Jammu or another grid, while it can be said that these areas will not have problem of electricity for next eight to ten years after up-gradation of system, Zaheer claimed.
