SKIMS brings out Research Grant for faculty’s solution-oriented projects

Srinagar, Mar 12: Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura has announced an Intramural Research Grant for the year 2022-23 under its scheme of Research and Surveys for the projects that aim for the expansion of healthcare services at the hospital or a solution to local health problems.
The grant will be provided under two categories; under category one, senior faculty members who are currently guides for Post-Doctoral, Post Graduate and P.G Diploma and other students will be eligible for seed grants for supporting the thesis work of the students allotted to them.
These members, as per the details, can forward the applications of their respective students allotted to them in the academic session 2022-23, while thesis topics have to be duly approved by respective departmental Research Committees.
For the second category, junior faculty members who are currently not declared as guides can submit research proposals of their specific interest indicating their intent to solve local problems or expand their respective departmental facilities by procuring larger extramural grants. These members, as per the details, can apply for a thesis grant to execute these concepts.
The project of both categories will be awarded the grant for both basic and clinical proposals and the project proposals have to be framed around research questions, which should culminate in full-nagged proposals that can garner larger extramural grants.
“The proposals should be woven in such a way that these will lead to some form of expansion of SKIMS services in future or lead to a solution to a local health problem,” the details state.
The submitted research proposals will be peer-reviewed and the Project Investigator(s)/Students will have to make a presentation before the Project Review Committee.
Further, the Project Review Committee will have to adhere to an objective method of assessment, while the guides will be responsible for obtaining ethical clearance before the release of the grant to the successful proposals.
At the end of one year, the details state, the investigator will have to submit a report of the progress of research work along with a Utilization Certificate which will be reviewed by the Project Review Committee.
The final report will have to be submitted upon completion of the 2nd year of the project and the concerned will be asked to present the results before the project review committee.
