Councillor among several held in NDPS cases

Srinagar, Mar 13 : Police today arrested a Councillor of Municipal Council (MC) Pattan among several drug peddlers in separate NDPS cases in North Kashmir.
A police party of Pattan arrested a Councillor of Municipal Council Pattan along with 200 tablets of Spasmoproxyvon and 10 bottles of codeine phosphate at Railway crossing in Pattan.
The arrested Councillor was identified as Barkat Ali Mia son of Mohammad Maqbool Mia, a resident of Mia Mohalla Pattan.
Similarly, in another action at Chakloo area of Baramulla, a suspicious person was apprehended tactfully who upon seeing the police party tried to flee from the spot.
During his personal search, police recovered 36 bottles of Corex from his possession. The man was identified as Umar Yousuf Lone son of Mohammad Yousuf Lone, a resident of Nadihal Rafiabad.
In the meantime, Police today said that the supply network of drugs like charas in Bandipora town has received a big jolt as they have arrested mother-son duo and recovered charas like substance and cash from them in the district.
The Police said that it recovered charas like substance packed in sachets along with a cash seizure of Rs 6980 from the mother-son duo identified as Posha Begum and her son Aqib Waza, whose father Khurshid Waza (MANDELA) has already been booked.
Police also said that a case under relevant sections of laws has been registered and further investigation is going on.
Police also recovered charas like substance along with cash seizure of 71,845 and arrested one lady Babli Begum who is a repeat offender, presently out on bail in an earlier NDPS Case. “Cognizance taken under the relevant sections of NDPS Act in PS Bandipora,” it added.
