SAMBA, Mar 13: Commissioner Secretary, Department of Rural Development (RDD) and Panchayati Raj, Mandeep Kaur, today conducted a tour of Bari Brahmana block besides visiting panchayat Palli to assess pace of development works underway in the panchayats.
She was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Samba, Anuradha Gupta, other senior officers, BDC Chairman, Bari-Brahmana, DDC member, Bari-Brahmana-A, Sarpanchs and others elected representatives.
During the visit, Commissioner Secretary inaugurated newly constructed Panchayat Ghar in Panchayat Birpur Upper, which has been constructed under the scheme RGSA with an allotted amount of Rs. 22.27 lakh. She interacted with local elected representatives and citizens of the panchayat besides assessing functioning of SHGs under NRLM in the panchayat.
Commissioner Secretary also visited Panchayat Palli and took detailed overview of progress on several development works being executed in the panchayat. She assessed progress on Smriti Kaksh which is being constructed through convergence of funds under UT CAPEX- CD and Panchayat Plan in the panchayat. She also visited the photo gallery on display regarding the events of National Panchayati Raj Day, 24th April, 2022 when Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, visited the panchayat.
She ascertained the progress made by the NOKIA Smartpur initiative which was launched on the same day. The initiative intends to put in place a strong ecosystem of rural entrepreneurship designed to create ideas for smart villages in J&K. Apart from the one NOKIA Smartpur initiative underway in the panchayat there are 24 more such initiatives which are in the process of being established in the UT of J&K, 19 in Samba and 6 in Anantnag districts.
Commissioner Secretary gave directions for early execution of all developmental works underway in the panchayat like Amrit Sarovar, GOBARDHAN scheme, UMEED, SBM-G, PMAY-G, door to door waste collection, 14th F.C, 100% saturation in beneficiary oriented schemes with emphasis on self employment and sustainable livelihood etc. She also interacted with the local elected representatives.
Later, she visited 500 Kilowatt solar power plant in panchayat Palli and gave directions for proper maintenance and upkeep of the facility.
