Driver killed as dumper plunges into Chenab River

RAMBAN, Mar 14: Driver of a dumper lost his life after the vehicle he was riding rolled down from a link road and fell into Chenab River here on Tuesday.
Police said that the dumper (JK19A-0192) was en route to Gypsum Mine Parlanka from Haroog area when the incident happened.
Inspector Manoj Kumar, SHO Dharmkund told the Excelsior that the driver, identified as Irshad Ahmad Magray son of late Mangtulla Magray of Tatarsu, Ramban died on-the-spot.
He said the body of the deceased driver was retrieved with the help of locals from the embankments of Chenab River and was subsequently taken to District Hospital Ramban for post-mortem.
“While police have registered a case under relevant sections of the law the body of the deceased has been handed over to his legal heirs after completing the legal formalities,” said the police officer.
