SRINAGAR, Mar 14: Dr Hina Shafi Bhat, Vice-Chairperson, J&K KVIB, chaired the Bankers Review meeting of KVIB Kashmir Division at Sanat Ghar Bemina, Srinagar on Tuesday.
The meeting was attended by senior officers from the Board besides officers from the participating banks, and district officers of KVIB Kashmir Division.
A press statement said that the meeting primarily discussed the release of Margin Money worth Rs. 131.46 crores during the current financial year by J&K KVIB for the establishment of 6000 units that created employment opportunities for 46,640 people.
“The meeting highlighted that 42% of the total cases settled during the current financial year were of women entrepreneurs,” read the press statement.
The VC KVIB, Dr Hina Bhat applauded the role of participating banks in the successful implementation of Prime Ministers Employment Generation Programme & Jammu & Kashmir Rural Employment Generation Programme but cautioned them to refrain from rejecting cases on flimsy grounds.
She urged the bankers to give aspirants belonging to women and marginalized sections of society preferential treatment by processing their cases on priority.
Bhat also emphasized the importance of synchronized efforts by implementing agencies and banks to ensure that the benefits of employment generation programs, such as PMEGP and JKREGP, reach the target population.
She further reiterated the need for giving special focus on the establishment of employment generation units in urban areas of Srinagar.
The meeting also highlighted the critical role of banks in facilitating the successful implementation of employment generation programs and urged them to focus on giving preferential treatment to women and marginalized sections of society.
