Police arrests 5-drug peddlers

SRINAGAR, Mar 14: Police today arrested five drug peddlers in separate incidents in north and south Kashmir, recovering contraband substances from their possession.
A police spokesperson said in the first incident, a police party of Police Station Kreeri arrested two drug peddlers in Saloosa along with 135 grams of Charas-like substance. He said the arrested individuals have been identified as Amir Subhan Malla and Farooq Ahmad Chopan, both residents of Watergam Kreeri.
In the second incident, he said, a police party of Police Station Tangmarg arrested two drug peddlers in Ferozpora crossing Tangmarg, along with 52 grams of Charas. The arrested individuals have been identified as Arif Ahmad Khan and Ishfaq Ahmad Mir, residents of Hoom Tangmarg and Hariwatnoo Tangmarg, respectively.
In the third incident, he added that a suspicious person was intercepted during Naka checking near Kharpora Playground in Kulgam, and 1.1kg of Charas was recovered from his possession. The arrested individual has been identified as Raqeeb Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Hassanpora Taveela, Bijbehara, he said.
He said that the police have registered cases under relevant sections of law in respective police stations and initiated investigations.
