‘The Mousetrap’ show series concludes at Natrang

JAMMU, Mar 15: Six show series of globally acclaimed play ‘The Mousetrap’, a classic murder mystery concluded at Natrang Studio Theatre, here today.
Based on the original work by Agatha Christie, the play was adapted in Hindi and directed by Gauri Thakur who is the youngest theatre director of Natrang and has the immense national/international theatre experience of directing plays within and outside the country including in South Africa and Mauritius.
The cast of the play consisted of students from a fresher’s theatre workshop conducted by Gauri Thakur herself. The young and talented cast did a remarkable job of bringing the characters to life and keeping the audience guessing until the very end.
The Natrang Jammu, the first professional theatre group of J&K, is known for its commitment to promoting theatre in the region and providing a platform for young and talented actors and directors.
‘The Mousetrap’ is a classic murder mystery play that takes place in a newly opened guesthouse, Monkswell Manor, located in the British countryside. As the investigation into a murder unfolds, the guests’ secrets and motives are slowly revealed, and tensions rise as suspicions mount.
Each character has a potential motive and the audience is kept guessing as to who the real killer might be. In the end, the murderer is revealed in a dramatic twist and the motive behind the killing is exposed.
The on-stage cast included Ishani Jandiyal as Mollie Ralson, Amit Brahmi as Giles Ralson, Abhimanyu Choudhary as Christopher Wren, Palshin Dutta as Boyles, Rafee Mushtaq as Major Metcalf, Kushal Bhat as Casewell and Sumit Bandaral as Detective Trotter.
The play was supported by the talented duo of Shivam Singh and Sheryaar Salaria, who handled the lights and Aadesh Dhar, who provided the music score. Sets enhanced the overall impact of the play which was erected by National Scholarship Holder Shivam Singh. Mohd. Yaseen coordinated the show and Neeraj Kant did the presentations.
The performance was well-received by the audience, who praised the cast and crew for their exceptional performance.
