Scholars highlight philosophy of non dualism

JAMMU, Mar 17: A two day International Seminar on Kashmir Shaivism started at Brig Rajinder Singh Auditorium , Jammu University here, today which was-organized by Kashmir Shaiva Institute (J&K) in association with the Department of Sanksrit , University of Jammu.
Highly celebrated scholars from India and abroad with profound understanding of the mystic dimensions of Kashmir Shaivism participated in the seminar and expounded on the formidable contributions of the great lineage of masters and sages have made to spread and propagation of the philosophy of the non-dual School of Trika Philosophy. In particular the significant contributions of the most recent and one of the greatest Shaivacharyas-Swami Lakshamnjoo Maharaj were highlighted by the scholars who led the plenary talks on the subject.
A distinguished panel of highly luminous scholars deliberated on the subject that included Prof. Kamlesh Jha from Banaras Hindu University, Dr Jagir Singh, George Barselar a great disciple of Swami Ji from Australia, renowned scholar Prof Mool Raj Shastri, Prof Sushma, HoD Department of Sanskrit University of Jammu, Pran Nath Koul, ,Dr Madhav Lamichhanne from Nepal Sanskrit University, Ms Shana Hughes from Lakshmanjoo Academy, USA.
The seminar was well attended by a large number of keen seekers and students, scholars and researchers and eminent citizens of the UT of J&K and from parts of the country. Several student scholars from the Department of Sanskrit, University of Jammu, Banaras Hindu University, SMVD University made very insightful and explorative research paper presentations on the subject of Kashmir Shaivism and its core tenets at the two day seminar.
Kashmir Shaiva Institute was founded by the great Shaivacharya of the twentieth century- Ishwarswaroop Shaivacharya Swami Lakshmanjoo Maharaj. Swami Lakshmanjoo was like a rare and a splendid jewel, having a profound and deep understanding of the philosophy and practices of Kashmir Shaivism. He soaked himself in the oceanic depths of Kashmir Shaiva philosophy throughout his lifetime and spent his entire life teaching the mystical tenets of Kashmir Shaivism to all those desirous of exploring this most profound philosophy from all across the world. Swami Ji’s formidable contribution to the revival of this philosophy and the promotion and propagation of the studies in non-dual Trika philosophy is well known and well documented.
Swami Ji’s efforts considerably helped innumerable scholars from India and abroad acquire knowledge and deep experiential insights into hidden dimensions of Kashmir Shaivism. Among his students and devotees were the renowned Prof Alex Sanderson, Dr. Mark Dyczkowsky, Mother Alice and Lilian Silburn, Paul Reps, Prof Gurutoo, Acharya RameshwarJha, Thakur Jaidev Singh and many others.
Kashmir Shaiva Institute, was founded by Swami Lakshmanjoo with a vision to build a nerve center for research and education in the profound philosophy of Kashmir Shaivism for the spiritual upliftment of humankind, said Vijay Kumar Kaul, secretary, KSI and the seminar was among a series such initiatives including the recently concluded seminar held by KSI in collaboration with the Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi.
