BHADERWAH, Mar 18: The Forest Department here seized a vehicle carrying illicit timber on Friday night and arrested the driver of the vehicle.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Chander Shekhar said on reliable inputs, a team of Forest Protection Force headed by Block Officer, Khursheed Khan in association with Forest Territorial Staff seized a mini-load carrier bearing registration number JK09C/4795 carrying the illicit timber.
“The vehicle was loaded with illicit sawn finished Deodar timber to the tune of 35 Cft (42) frames. The seizure was made on Tapri Road of compartment 56, Dandi Block and the driver Mohd. Sabir, son of Mohd. Yousuf, resident of Dandi Bhaderwah, was arrested on the spot,” DFO Bhaderwah, Chander Shekhar said.
In this connection, an FIR has been lodged against the driver and further investigation has been started.
