JAMMU, Nov 15: Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services & Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-Din today impressed upon the doctors to strictly adhere to the Code of Medical Ethics as devised in the profession from time to time.
Addressing the inaugural function of a two-day National CME-cum-workshop here today, the Minister said medical profession unlike other professions is guided by a code of ethics aimed at efficient patient care and better service delivery.
Taj said Government would provide all support to J&K State Medical Council in the implementation of Code of Medical Ethics in the State. He hoped that deliberations in the two-day workshop would go a long way in disseminating knowledge and expertise in tackling diseases like AIDS and tuberculosis.
He said the workshop would provide an opportunity to the participants to share their knowledge and experiences.
On the occasion the Minister released a book, Code of Medical Ethics.
Principal Medical College Jammu, Dr. Shashi Gupta, in her address expressed the hope that the current CME would emerge as a milestone and take the medical fraternity and patient care to new heights of excellence.
Dr. Ashok Parihar, Dr. Vinay Rampal and Dr. Zahid Geelani also spoke on the occasion.
Vice Chairman NDMA, Dr. Muzaffar Drabu, some former principals of the college, members of medical fraternity within and outside the State were present on the occasion.
