RAMBAN, Mar 20: A youth was arrested for allegedly hurting religious sentiments of a particular community by posting objectionable remarks on his Instagram account here today.
Police identified the accused as Pratham Kumar, son of Pardeep Kumar, resident of Matira Ramban and arrested him after slapping a case against him under the relevant sections of law.
Earlier, members of a particular community held a protest demonstration and blocked Ramban-Maitra link road at Maitra Chowk and demanded strict legal action against the accused.
Later SSP, Mohita Sharma and Additional Deputy Commissioner, Harbans Lal Sharma reached the spot and pacified the protestors by assuring them of action against the accused.
On their assurance the protestors dispersed peacefully.
SHO Police Station Ramban, Anil Chowdary while confirming the incident said a case in FIR number 101 of 2023 Under Sections 295-A/153-A, IPC was registered at Police Station Ramban for further investigations.
