Snow clearance work suspended on Mughal road

POONCH, Mar 21: The snow clearance work on Mughal road has been stopped after fresh snowfall following avalanches at Pir ki Gali and its adjoining areas.
Official sources said that the work on this road from both sides was started many days ago, and snow was cleared from Shopian side upto Pir ki Gali. About 42 km road was cleared from Poonch side as well and the work was in progress when above one ft snowfall occured at higher reaches and avalanches also hits many locations after which the work has been temporarily stopped.
Authorities said that there is prediction of wet weather for few days, soon after improvement in the weather, snow clearance work will again start on the road to clear it for traffic movement.
Pertinent to mention that the road connects Poonch-Rajouri districts with Kashmir valley and a tunnel has already been sanctioned to throw the road open for 12 months but its work has not been started yet.
