JAMMU, Mar 21: On the evening of Chaitra Shukla Pratipada of the New Year, Vikram Samvat 2080, today Sri Kalakh Jyotish and Vedic Institute welcomed the New Year with grandeur in the presence of former Minister and State vice president BJP, Sham Lal Sharma. The programme was organized by the Sri Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Institute Trust.
The main organizers of the event were former Minister, Sham Sharma , and Mahant Rohit Shastri , Shri Kalakh Jyotish and Vedic Institute Trust. Ankush Sharma , advisor of Sri Kalakh Jyotish and Vedic Institute Trust, is the co-organizer of the event.
The chief guest of the event was Mahamandaleshwar Acharya Swami Vishwatma Nand Saraswati Ji Maharaj, and other notable guests included Shriman Purushottam Dadhichi Ji (president Sanatan Dharma Sabha). The main organizer of the event, Shakti Pathak chief Nyasi of Chudamani Sanskrit Institute, Basohli, Dr. Vivek Kumar and Mahant Rameshwar Dass.
Speaking on the occasion, Swami Vishw?tm? Nand Saraswati Maharaj said Vikrami Calendar is the only completely scientific religious calendar. Compared to the Gregorian calendar, the Vikrami Calendar is used for all auspicious works. On the date of Pratipad? of Chaitra month, the great mathematician Bhaskaracharya had created the Hindu Panchang by calculating the day, month, and year from Sunrise to Sunset. From this date, new Panchangs begin and auspicious dates for festivals, celebrations, and ceremonies throughout the year are determined.
Purushottam Dadhichi said that the first day of Chaitra Shukla Pratipada is considered the beginning of the new year in the Panchang, which is also called the Hindu New Year.
Sham Lal Sharma said that in India, at this time, many indigenous and foreign-origin calendars are prevalent, but from the perspective of India’s cultural history, if there is one most popular national calendar, it is the “Vikram Samvat.”
Shakti Pathak stated that Vikram Samvat is considered as the national era. At the beginning of the new Vikram Samvat, it is known by different names in different parts of the country.
Dr. Vivek Kumar stated, according to Brahma Purana, Brahma Ji created the universe on the first sunrise of Chaitra month. From this day, the Vikram Samvat starts, he added.
Mahant Rameshwar Dass explained that the Vikrami calendar is related to the nature of the entire world, astronomical principles, and the planets and stars of the universe.
