Samba police, students join hands against drug menace

SAMBA, Mar 21: Police organised anti-drugs awareness programme at Govt High School Sujwan Supwal (Samba ) where hundreds of students of six schools, parents, teachers, prominent citizens and police officers participated.
SSP Samba Benam Tosh, Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary, DySP Operations Garu Ram Bhardwaj, SDPO Vijaypur Priyanka Kumari, DySP DAR Samba Ajay Anand, SHO Samba Rajeshwar Singh and Chowki Officer Supwal Divya Bharti presented certificates and cash rewards of Rs 11000, 8000 and 6000 to the first, second and third best student speakers respectively. Four other student speakers were also felicitated with certificates & cash rewards of Rs 1000 each.
DDC member Romesh Chander, Sarpanch Sujwan Gardara Singh, Sarpanch Tanda Tara Singh, Headmaster Vaishno Devi, Ex-Sarpanch Daghore Omkar Nath and prominent citizens graced the occasion. People appreciated the role of police on anti-narcotics front and hoped that more and more and more such anti-drug awareness programmes would be organized by Samba police at other places as well.
On the occasion, SSP Benam Tosh said that target has been fixed to completely free Samba society from the menace of deadly narcotics , especially heroin popularly termed as “chitta” sooner than later. He further said that Samba Police is organising anti-drugs awareness seminars, symposiums and debates at different schools & public places to create awareness among students against narcotic substances.
