KPs celebrate Navreh with gaiety, fervour

JAMMU, Mar 22: Navreh -the first day of New Year was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety by Kashmiri Pandits across the UT of J&K today.
In this connection functions were held at KP Sabha Ambphalla, Jammu, Sahik Samiti Trikuta Nagar and Hariparbhat Srinagar Kashmir in which large number of devotees participated.
Sanjeevani Sharda Kendra (SSK) as usual celebrated Navreh as Sankalp Divas in which globally displaced community members took a solemn pledge in the morning of performing ritual darshan of Navreh Thali on the name of Goddess Sharda and Rishi Kashyap to work for cause of restoration of peace, to keep the tradition and culture alive and to celebrate the next Navreh along with other community members in Kashmir.
The SSK is organising three day Navratra Mahotsav every year. Yesterday the tributes were paid to Veda Acharya Shriya Bhat of 15 th century during the function organised by Youth for Kashmir an offshoot of SSK. Raj Nehru, VC Skill Development University Gurugram, Haryana was the main speaker who threw light on role and contribution of Shriya Bhat. The programmes were held in different places at Jammu.
The three-day long celebrations will conclude tomorrow with online address of Spiritual Guru Shri Shri Ravi Shankar Ji to community.
At KP Sabha Advisor to the Lt. Governor R.R. Bhatnagar was the chief guest on the occasion. Former Minister, Sunil Sharma, was the guest of Honour. Deepali Watal, a renowned Kashmiri singer, enthralled the audience with devotional bhajans.
The function began with remembering the innocent members of Kashmiri Biradari who lost their lives in the recent target killings and two-minute silence was observed in their memory.
The general secretary of the Sabha, S L Bagati read out the annual report of the Sabha.
Dr Sujata Sathoo, senior member of the Sabha, conducted the proceedings. A.K. Braroo, former senior vice president of the Sabha, was the special guest.
KK Khosa, president of KP Sabha, formally welcomed the chief guest and others. He elaborated on the significant role played by the Sabha for past over a century in the service of the community.
He highlighted various issues confronting the displaced community reiterated the demand of political representation of KPs in the Assembly and Parliament.
The Sabha honoured Sanjay Nehru for being inducted in Indian Audit & Account Services recently.
Sunil Sharma highlighted the contribution of the community in building the nation through their knowledge and wisdom.
Advisor to LG, R.R. Bhatnagar congratulated the audience on holding the Navreh function on auspicious day. He talked about the significance of the Navreh in the Kashmiri culture and also made mention of the Sharda Mata Temple at Teetwal on the auspicious day. He highlighted the infrastructural developments undertaken by the Government in last few years. He also assured that the issues raised by KP Sabha with regard to accommodation and safety of the minorities. He appealed the community members to step forward and support the UT Government in making the dreams true.
The vote of thanks was presented by J L Zutshi senior vice president of the Sabha.
Navreh was also celebrated with by Trikuta Kashmir Samiti in which Prof P N Trisal was the chief guest.
A grand function was held at Hari Parbaht Srinagar on the occasion of Navreh today. The function was organised by Hari Parbhat Sharika Chakreshwar Sanstha led by its president, Ranjeet Gorkha.
The religious function started with flag hoisting by DC Srinagar, Mohammed Aijaz who hoisted the Flag on the occasion. The Mayor Srinagar Junaid Matoo also attended the function. Besides, Bhajan Kirtan and religious discourses were also held at shrine.
This was folwed by serving of Prasad to devotees by the team of the Sanstha.
