JAMMU, Mar 22: A programme on the inauguration of 5th Poshan Pakhwada was organised at BDO office Dansal by the CDPO Poshan Project on this year’s theme i.e. “Nutrition for All: Together Towards a Healthy India”.
DPO Poshan Projects Jammu Renu Bhasin,was the chief guest on the occasion.Other dignitaries were BDO Dansal Vijay Kumar and BDO Nagrota Shalini Raina, Tehsildar Dansal,BMO Dansal Dr Manzoor, BDC and Sarpanches of various Panchayats of Dansal. The Pakhwada aims to raise awareness about the importance of nutrition and promote healthy eating habits through Jan Andolan and Jan Bhagidari.
The programme started with pledge ceremony by DPO Jammu on Poshan Pakhwada .The DPO said that the department is celebrating the fifth Poshan Pakhwada with various activities being performed across the Jammu district. She further informed that with the declaration of 2023 as the International Year of Millets, the focus of this year’s Poshan Pakhwada is to popularise ‘Shree Anna’i.e Millets- the mother of all grains, as a valuable asset to address malnutrition. She further emphasised that behavioural change at individual and community level is an important component to achieve the desired goals of a Kuposhan-Mukt Bharat.
CDPO Dansal Ranbireshwar Singh Jamwal in his address, informed that the activities on this years Poshan Pakhwada across the block Dansal will focus on the following themes viz. Promotion and popularization of Shree Anna / Millets for nutritional- well-being through organization of drives , to celebrate and recognize the ‘Swasth Balak’ or Healthy Child as per defined criteria by generating a healthy spirit of competition for good nutrition , good health and well being campaigns will be organized to increase awareness and popularise Saksham Anganwadis with upgraded infrastructure and facilities as centers of improved nutrition delivery and early childhood care and education.Further request was made by CDPO Dansal to the RDD officers to expedite the construction of new AWCs in convergence with MGNREGA.
This was followed by the distribution of Job cards among the beneficiaries through DPO Jammu by BDO Dansal and BDO Nagrota followed by an address by BMO Dansal on the importance of millets in maintaining good health.
The anaemia testing of the beneficiaries was also done on the occasion followed by distribution of medicines of folic acid,Iron and calcium .
