DODA, Mar 25: Police here today arrested one Special Police Officer (SPO) for his involvement in drug peddling.
Police sources informed that it was learnt through reliable sources that one Javed Ahmed, son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Hamdanpur, Doda used to keep intoxicant substances in his possession and was selling the same to youths in Doda town.
On receipt of this information, Police swung into action and a Police party of Police Post DH Doda apprehended the accused and during his search Charas like substance was recovered.
On enquiry, it was found that the accused was serving as SPO and was presently posted at DPL Doda.
In this connection, a case in FIR No. 53/2023 under relevant provisions of the law has been registered at Police Station Doda and investigation started.
Further interrogation of the accused SPO was going on to ascertain his links with other drug peddlers in the area.
