Lucknow, Mar 25: The Uttar Pradesh Government is celebrating the completion of six years by including one year of this term and five years of the previous. The Government is counting its achievements and taking full credit for it; and on this self-acclaim, Yogi Aditynath’s Government is preparing itself to win the 2024 elections.
Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath addressed the media today and said that his Government worked tirelessly to deliver the schemes of the Central and State Governments and that their goal is to complete the work on the Ganga Expressway before the Prayagraj Kumbh in 2025.
Eastern UP is today connected with Purvanchal Expressway and Bundelkhand Expressway. The work of the Ganga Expressway is going on at a fast pace to connect Western UP with Central UP and Eastern UP. Our effort is to complete the work of Ganga Expressway before Prayagraj Kumbh 2025. Devotees will be welcomed by the Ganga Expressway, Yogi said.
The CM went on saying that the process of connecting every district headquarters with four lanes has either been completed or is progressing fast. Continuous work is going on to connect the district headquarters with the Ring Road. UP has the most extensive metro service in the country. The metro is currently operational in five cities, with the sixth, Agra, set to open in November-December. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate rapid rail service next month, he informed.
CM said that when the Government took over in 2017, two airports were fully operational and two were partially operational and today there are nine fully operational airports in the state. We are currently working on 12 airports, and the Airport Authority has given its consent for providing air connectivity. Within the next two years, Uttar Pradesh will be the first state to have five international airports. Three international airports are currently operational. By next year, Ayodhya and the Jewar International Airport will be operational. The country’s first waterway has been started from Varanasi to Haldia. UP, which never had a port, has today the eastern port with a waterway from Varanasi to Haldia. We are constantly making efforts to take the products of the farmers to the global market, Yogi said.
Stating that UP has really changed its perception in the last 6 years, the Chief Minister said, ‘today no one thinks negatively about UP. People used to look at UP with suspicion, but now their faces light up when they hear the name. This is the biggest achievement of our double engine Government.’
The CM continued, ‘remember that we had started the work in UP with industrial development projects worth Rs 80,000 crores. Private sector projects worth Rs 5 lakh crore were started in UP in 6 years, providing employment to lakhs of youths. The investment proposal of Rs 35 lakh crores at the Global Investors Summit surprised everyone.’
The CM said that only 2.5 lakh toilets were built in the first two and a half years of the previous Government, while in his Government 2.61 crore toilets were constructed in one and a half years after 2017. According to him, during the previous Government, only 18,000 houses were sanctioned under the PM Awas Yojana (Urban), which too was never built, whereas in the last six years, 5,27,7000 houses have been sanctioned in urban/rural areas. Apart from this, houses were made available to more than 1 lakh poor people under the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana. These include castes such as Musahar, Vantangia, Tharu, Kol, and Sahariya, whose voices were not heard for 70 years after independence. Electricity is now distributed equally to all rural and urban areas, putting an end to the VIP culture.
Today UP ranks second in the country in terms of ease of doing businesses. UP’s budget has been doubled. Previously, 17 lakh women received a destitute pension of Rs 500; today, 31 lakh women receive a pension of Rs 1000. Earlier 37 lakh beneficiaries used to get the facility of Rs 500 monthly old age pension, but today 56 lakh women are getting its benefits, and the monthly amount has also been doubled. The unemployment rate was 18% in 2016, but it has now dropped to 3-4%. “We have now paid twice as much for sugarcane as was paid in UP between 2007 and 2017. Till now we have paid more than 2 lakh 2 thousand crores as sugarcane price”, he informed.
Yogi said that previously, paddy and wheat were purchased through brokers and agents. Between 2012 and 2017, only 123 lakh metric tonnes of paddy were procured through middlemen, for which Rs 17190 crore was paid. But since 2017 till now, 345 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was purchased and the payment of 64 thousand crores went directly to the farmers through DBT. Similarly, in the case of wheat, 94 lakh metric tonnes of wheat were purchased through middlemen from 2012 to 2017 and Rs 12800 crores were paid through middlemen. Over 219 lakh metric tonnes were procured and Rs 40,159 crore was paid into the account of farmers during these six years of tenure, the CM added.
The Chief Minister gave credit to his colleagues and the workers also and said that the commitment with which the team has worked, is the reason why the perception of UP has changed. It is the result of the teamwork of the cabinet, public representatives, organizations and officials. Today UP has moved forward as a leading state in every sector.
CM releases book ‘Chhah Saal-UP Khushhal’
When the country is celebrating the nectar period (Amrit Kaal) of independence, Uttar Pradesh is also adding a nectar page to its history. On Saturday, as the Yogi Government completed the first year of its second term, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath released a book based on achievements of six years ‘Chhah Saal-UP Khushhal’ and also unveiled a poster at Lok Bhavan Auditorium. The CM said that in six years, UP has become a state of festivals, and is no longer known for its mafia.
