Child labour

Sir,
We come across scores of instances where children below the age of 17 are engaged as labourers either hand picking the thrown out plastic  bottles , polythene bags and rags etc or at other work places. We also see them serving as tea boys . We also see and hear about instances of their being engaged a domestic help and asked to do all the domestic  kitchen and other household jobs. In most of the cases, they are ill treated. We have seen the same in a bungalow of an MP where brutalities and physical tortures were their routine fate.  In the tender hands which normally should have been with pen, pencil and books, they are  required to do physical  manual jobs. We celebrate childrens’ day, deliver lectures or write stories etc; thinking justice having  been done to the cause of child labour and exploitation. What is the position of criminal cases registered against the offenders and how many get punishment would be barely 2.5%.Let child labour prohibition law be scrupulously followed especially by our politicians .
Yours etc…..
