LEH, Mar 29: A delegation from BJP Ladakh, led by its State Executive member, Bilal Ahmed and district member, BJP Drass Unit, Jaffer Ali, called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Retd)) Dr B D Mishra, at Raj Niwas.
Bilal raised several issues related to the Drass sub-division, viz district status for Drass; establishing a Govt Girls Higher Secondary School at Drass; expediting the development of the ropeway project at Manman Top; developing a Tulip Garden in Mamil, Drass; issue Actual Line of Control (ALC) certificate to residents from Matayan to Kharul villages on the border areas; preference to locals during the recruitment of labourers and porters in GREF and Indian Army; enhancement of remuneration of daily wagers, etc.
He also raised issues related to the public of Kaksar village, including the need to develop a playground in Kaksar village; disbursal of compensation for land acquired by the Indian village in Kaksar; the need to develop bunkers near the National Highway and bridge at Kaksar village; need to develop tourist spots at Bajrang village to promote tourist activities; preference to locals during recruitment of labourers and porters in GREF and Indian Army; preference to be given by Indian Army to ponies from Kaksar village; enhancement of wages of ponies and porters, etc.
Bilal also requested the LG for his intervention in ensuring preference for local labourers in the ongoing construction work of the Zoji-La tunnel along with preference for Ex-servicemen from Kargil for the post of guards at Zoji-La tunnel.
The Lt Governor assured to look into all the demands and issues highlighted by the delegation.
