Kidnapping accused sent on judicial remand

SAMBA, Mar 29: An accused arrested by Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by SSP Samba Benam Tosh in a sensational case of blackmailing and kidnapping of girl student of Government Degree College Samba and resident of Sumb (Samba) whose dead body was found in Ludhiana, has been sent to jail on judicial remand.
The girl student happened to be a brilliant distinction holder having excellence in academic as well as sports activities and was having won several rewards and medals. On 20 August 2022, she attended her classes at GDC Samba but did not return home in the evening and next day the news regarding her dead body lying in Ludhiana under mysterious circumstances gripped her native village Sumb, with people staging strong protests and demanding in-depth investigation.
During police-public meeting held by SSP Samba Benam Tosh at Sumb, people had earnestly demanded fair probe to unravel facts of the case and arrest accused involved in the heinous crime. Subsequently, on directions of the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Samba, an FIR was registered at Police Station Samba and SSP Samba had constituted a SIT headed by Deputy SP Priyanka Kumari (SDPO Vijaypur) with Senior Prosecuting Officer Gurpreet Kour, SHO Samba Rajeshwar Singh and Incharge Police Post Rakh Amb Talli Ravinder Singh as its members who arrested the main accused Sunil Kumar Sharma.
