JAMMU, Nov 18: Minister of Housing, Horticulture and Culture, Raman Bhalla has lauded the initiative taken by Youth Wing Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) in honouring the Ramleela clubs.
Mr Bhalla was addressing a function at Bishnah today which was organized by the DSS Youth and UNISON in collaboration with Ministry of Culture, Government of India (GoI). The president DSS and former Minister Gulchain Singh Charak chaired the function while Mr Bhalla was the chief guest on the occasion.
Bhalla said the role played by Ramleela clubs was remarkable as they have not only engaged themselves in keeping the tradition alive but also contributed in providing an opportunity to every individual to focus on philosophy of Karma, truth and duty.
In his address Gulchain Singh Charak said the main purpose behind honouring the Ramleela clubs is to motivate and encourage them to continue their activities by staging Ramleelas to keep the tradition alive. He said these clubs are not only showcasing the Shree Ramleela but are also instrumental in spreading and imbibing social and moral values among the masses which is the need of the hour.
He further said that while maintaining the tradition these clubs should also contribute towards Dogra culture by performing Shree Ramleela during Navratras with Dogri script for which the Dogri writers should help them.
D K Singh Ashok Dubey, Girdhari Lal Sharma and Suraj Dev Singh were guests of honour on the occasion.
Gambir Dev Singh, president Youth Wing DSS said that the Sabha has always strived to uphold the traditions, culture and heritage of Duggar land.
Ravi Kant Sharma conducted the programme which was attended by a large number of people.
