RAJOURI, Mar 31: Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Kundal chaired a meeting of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti to discuss and address various issues related to the functioning of Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri and improve healthcare facilities in the region.
The meeting began with a presentation by the Medical Superintendent GMC Rajouri, highlighting the GMC’s achievements and working. Members discussed the action taken on previous issues and took necessary steps to address challenges faced by the GMC. One significant issue discussed was the vacancy of posts in the GMC. It was decided that the Principal of GMC Rajouri would take up the matter with the Secretary of Health to fill up vacant posts.
The meeting also addressed concerns such as proper functioning of Urban Health Centre, setting up a dermatology ward and ensuring adequate accommodations for doctors.
The Deputy Commissioner assured the Samiti that the 180-bedded hospital would be completed within 15 days, providing a boost to healthcare infrastructure in Rajouri. He also agreed to install streetlights to ensure safety and security of patients and doctors visiting hospitals at night.
Furthermore, the Deputy Commissioner emphasised the importance of a preventive approach to healthcare and directed the launch of a mass awareness campaign on cancer. The meeting reviewed the functioning of the dialysis unit, drug addiction centre and other centres like oncology and tobacco cessation centres. Necessary steps were taken to improve their functioning.
District Development Council members including Sai Abdul Rashid; Dinesh Sharma; Rajinder Sharma; Jamshed Malik; Nirman Singh; Ashok Sharma and others attended the meeting.
The meeting was attended by officials and members of the Samiti, who discussed and deliberated on a range of healthcare facility issues in Rajouri. Chief Planning Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Medical Superintendent DH and other concerned officers also attended the meeting.
