MENDHAR, Nov 18: Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety, Poonch Tariq Mehmood conducted a surprise check of Mendhar market today and destroyed stale eatables.
He also realised a fine of Rs 1500 from defaulters who were selling adulterated items and were running their business establishments without licenses.
The AC also realised Rs 800 as on spot fine from people who were found smoking in the non smoking zone during his inspection.
He warned the Beopar Mandal and shopkeepers that they should not repeat this practice in future. He was assisted by Food Safety Officer, Hem Raj,Tehsil Supply Officers Mendhar and Balakote Abdul Khaliq and B B Sharma respectively besides Naib Tehsildar during the inspection.
Later the AC also held a meeting with SDM Mendhar and issued instruction to him regarding enforcement of Food Safety Act properly in the area.
