JAMMU, Apr 2: Strongly opposing the proposal of the Excise Department to open approximately 26 more liquor shops in J&K, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has warned the Government to refrain from such an obnoxious move aimed at violating the sanctity of city of temples.
Speaking to media, here today, AAP Spokesperson Partap Singh Jamwal said that proposal to open new liquor shops seemed to be a deep rooted conspiracy against Jammu region and its youth in particular. He asserted that this makes it amply clear that the J&K Government is playing in the hands of liquor mafia crossing all the limits.
He said that on one hand the Govt is clamouring a lot about the schemes rolled out by it like ‘Beti Padao Beti Bachao’, “Khelo India”, “Make in India”, “Start Up schemes”, etc but on the other hand these schemes of the Union Govt prove absolutely futile in J&K where the Administration is following the policy of promoting and facilitating alcoholism.
Partap lambasted the Govt for the opening of new liquor shops in Jammu and Kashmir and 10 percent hike in toll plaza rates. He alleged that BJP’s proxy Government in J&K was looting the people by imposing tax after tax be it through Toll Plaza or by imposing Property Tax.
