Compensation for rain-hit farmers demanded

JAMMU, Apr 2: J&K unit of Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray has urged upon J&K Lieutenant Governor to take stock of the damages caused to the crops in Jammu due to untimely rains.
Speaking at a function here today J&K Shiv Sena president, Manish Sahni demanded proper relief to the farmers affected by unseasonal rains and hailstorms.
“Shiv Sena is standing with farmer in this hour of crisis and will make every possible effort to get them proper compensation,” he maintained.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena Hindustan (SSH) J&K president Pandit Rajesh Kesri has also demanded suitable compensation per quintal for wheat crop to the farmers in border areas as their crop has been damaged in the recent unseasonal rain and hailstorms.
“Complaints from farmers of border areas regarding losses are coming and the Government is showing very less damage in comparison to the actual suffered by the farmers,” Kesri said adding: “In many places, 60-80 per cent damage has been caused to crops whereas it has been shown only as 20-25 per cent.”
He asked farmers to register the complete information about their land, area and crop on ‘Meri Fasal Mera Byora’ portal.
“Now the Government has also created the e-Fasal Kshatipurti portal on which farmers can register their crop loss within 72 hours,” he maintained.
