Tourism development in Jammu

Sir,
The decision of the Central Government to grant 25 crore for promotion of tourism and development of new tourist spots in Jammu region is more than welcome.
This amount granted will certainly give a big boost to tourism sector in the Jammu region besides bringing these hitherto unknown places in limelight. The Jammu region is dotted with several pictureseque places, but some of them have not been explored yet. These places are located in almost districts of Jammu region. In Poonch, Rajouri, Bhaderwah, Kathua and Kishtwar, there are places which can attract large number of tourists and will turn out to be good tourist destination provided the Government is interested in developing them in terms of infrastructure and facilities. Tourism sector in Jammu region is yet in infancy, and has not reached to  a stage at par with Kashmir region. Even Ladakh region has grown more than Jammu region in  terms of attracting tourists.
The Jammu region is quite dependent on pilgrims who visit Vaishno Devi. But there presence in the region does not go beyond two or three days.
Efforts should be made to develop high end tourism sector in this region. This move will certainly help the region become one of the favourite destination.
Yours etc….
