BHADARWAH, Apr 3: Property worth lakhs was reduced to ashes in the devastating fire in which 19 rooms of a triple storey building and six shops were gutted in Bhalla area of Bhadarwah in district Doda today.
According to reports, 19 rooms of a rented accommodation along with six shops came under blaze in main market of Bhalla, 15 km from Bhadarwah.
The fire, which started in afternoon at 1:45 pm destroyed 19 rooms of a rented building along with 6 shops. Click here to watch video
After getting information, police rushed to the spot and with the help of locals doused the flames.
No injury to anyone or loss of life was reported in the incident, while the exact loss could not be ascertained yet.
SDPO Bhadarwah, Wasim Mehmood, who led the operation, said, “Immediately after receiving information, Police along with fire tenders and locals reached the spot and started dosing the flames, which were spreading rapidly as the rented building and shops were located in densely populated market.”
“As of now, fire has been completely extinguished and we are now assessing losses,” the SDPO added.
Police has taken the cognizance of the incident and started investigation.
According to reports, gutted building belonged to one Ghulam Qadir son of Abdul Rehman Mir resident of Bachla Bhalla, which was taken by a businessman Charan Dass on rent since last several years.
Meanwhile, Naresh Gupta, ex-MLC and senior DPAP leader described the fire incident as very unfortunate and request the LG Administration and DC Doda to establish Fire and Emergency Services unit at Bhalla. He also demanded ex-gratia relief be released in favour of all the affected shopkeepers.
