5 detained under preventive action

POONCH, Apr 3: Five persons, said to be drug-peddlers were detained by police for one month under preventive measures and sent to jail.
Official sources said that police flying squad vehicle from Poonch apprehended five persons from different locations within the jurisdiction of Police Station Poonch under suspicious conditions and during their search, recovered some syringes and silver papers from their possession.
They were identified as Shubam, son of Raj Kumar from Ward No. 4 Poonch; Daleep Singh @ Dear, son of Vijay Kumar from Ward No 3, Poonch; Mohd Farooq, son of Mohd Rashid from Surankote; Naseer Ahmed, son of Bashir Ahmed from Potha in Surankote and Sanjeev Kumar @ Shaka, son of Ram Prakash from Ward No 3 Poonch.
Police said they were roaming in the area for drug consumption. During the course of further enquiry it came to fore that all the five persons are habitual drug addicts and peddlers and used to sell drugs among youth in Poonch city.
In order to maintain peace/ tranquility, public order and to eradicate the drug menace from the society all of the five persons were booked U/S 107/110/151 Cr PC and produced before Executive Magistrate Ist Class Haveli Poonch and by the order of Magistrate, they have been lodged in District Jail Poonch for one month.
