JAMMU, Apr 6: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jammu & Kashmir celebrated its 43rd Foundation day across the UT with much enthusiasm and fanfare. In this connection main functions were held at Party headquarter Trikuta Nagar under the chairmanship of BJP president, Ravinder Raina who was accompanied by former Deputy CM Kavinder Gupta. While in Kashmir the main function was held at district Office Jawahar Nagar , Srinagar under the leadership of party general secretary (Org) Ashok Koul who was the chief guest while Waqf Board Chairperson, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi was the guest of honour.
At party Headquarters here, Ravinder Raina accompanied by all other party leaders hoisted the BJP flag, after which party symbol on balloons was released in air to mark the occasion. It was followed by the distribution of sweets among the party workers.

“Hearty congratulations and best wishes to ‘All the God-like workers, all the supporters and well-wishers’ dedicated to the resolution of serving the nation on the Foundation Day of Bharatiya Janata Party. Hundreds of salutes to all the great personalities who expanded the organization with hard work and dedication”, said Ravinder Raina on the occasion.
Ravinder Raina said that Foundation Day of BJP is celebrated by party cadre and supporters like a festival. He said that BJP founded in 1980, earlier was known by the name of Janata Party and Bharatiya Jana Sangha, which supported the Praja Parishad’s ‘Ek Vidhaan, Ek Nishaan, Ek Pradhan’ and other nationalist campaigns and agitations in Jammu & Kashmir. “Our millions of dedicated workers have served the nation and society and dedicated their lives. On this auspicious Foundation Day on April 6, we salute to all those great souls who have sacrificed their everything for the BJP’s noble mission and extended the party base. Today, BJP is the largest political party and this laurel goes to all the dedicated workers and supporters of the party”, Raina added.
Kavinder Gupta, on the occasion said that the BJP is celebrating its Foundation Day with great fervour and enthusiasm. Terming BJP as people’s party he said it has come a long way since its inception on April 6, 1980, emerging as the largest political party in the world.
J&K BJP general secretary, Vibodh Gupta accompanied by Yudhvir Sethi, Rajeev Charak, Parmod Kapahi, Sanjita Dogra, Purnima Sharma and other senior party leaders hoisted the party flag at party office, Kachi Chawni, Jammu.
Sham Lal Sharma, Surjeet Singh Salathia, Anuradha Charak, Vibodh Gupta, Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, Priya Sethi, Abdul Ghani Kohli, Devender Singh Rana, Baldev Singh Billawaria, Ch. Vikram Randhawa, Neelam Langeh, Ayodhya Gupta, Tilak Raj Gupta, Brig. (retd) Anil Gupta, Arun Gupta, Rajni Sethi, YV Sharma, Rakesh Mahajan, Dr. Pardeep Mahotra, Sanjita Dogra, Arun Dev Jamwal, Sunil Prajapati, Prem Gupta, Prof. Kulbhushan Mohtra, Ajay Pargal, Ishant Gupta, Jeet Angral, Mookherjee Sharma, Shailja Gupta, Ved Sharma, Subhash Gupta, Ashu Mahajan, Puneet Mahajan, Dil Bahadur Jamwal, Basant Raj Thakur, Rekha Mahajan were amongst the prominent leaders present in the programme.
The Foundation Day was also celebrated at Srinagar party office in Kashmir Valley today where party general secretary (Org), Ashok Koul was the chief guest and Dr Darakhshan Andrabi chairperson J&K Waqf Board was the guest of honour.
The Party flag was hoisted by Ashok Koul while the welcome address was read by district president, Ashok Bhat.
Dr Andrabi in her address stressed on working at grass root level and asked the party men that the schemes of Modi Government should reach all sections of the people and they should get benefitted.
Ashok Koul, party general secretary (Org), highlighted the achievements of Modi Government. He said since Narendra Modi took over as PM in 2014 India is progressing tremendously and world has recognised India’s might and capability.
Koul made a special mention of railways saying that Kashmir will be linked to rest of the country either by this year end or early next year. He said it will be history as prior to 2014 no one would have imagined that train will reach Kashmir from other parts of country.
Sujat Rezvi, district general secretary, Bashir Ahmed Mir and Dr Ashok Koul, district vice presidents also spoke on the occasion.
Another programme was held by party at Talab Tillo under the leadership of Keshaw Chopra Mandal president. The function was attended by booth president, Manoj Tandon and party secretary, Ayodhya Gupta.
