Cops rescue 125 bovine animals, arrest 10 smugglers

UDHAMPUR, Apr 8: During past few days, acting on specific inputs of transportation of bovine animals, different police parties of Police Stations Udhampur, Majalta and Chenani intercepted four vehicles and some groups of bovine smugglers who were taking bovine animals by foot from Jammu to Srinagar.
After conducting checking of the vehicles and questioning the bovine smugglers, it was found that 125 bovine animals were being transported to valley without permission of competent authority.
In this regards, six bovine smuggling cases have been registered at Police Station Udhampur, three at Police Station Majalta and one at Police Station Chenani of district Udhampur under Sections 188 IPC, 11 PC Act and investigation set into motion.
The overall rescue operation was made by police parties under the command of Inspector Raghubir Singh, SHO Police Station Udhampur; Inspector Pushpinder Singh, SHO Police Station Majalta and Inspector S.D Singh, SHO Police Station Chenani under the supervision of Anwaar Ul Haq, Additional SP Udhampur; Gurmeet Singh, DySP Hqrs Udhampur; SDPO Ramnagar, Vishal Manhas and SDPO Chenani, Tahir Amin Sheikh with the overall supervision of SSP Udhampur, Dr. Vinod Kumar.
